Ugh… Another Video-Making Delay

Ugh. My graphics card is broken.

It hasn’t even been 2 weeks since I replaced my broken hard-drive, and now the PC is down again.

The GPU is not essential for making videos but it’s about as close as it gets to essential. I can’t do any kind of visual effects on my videos (which I use quite often) without it. It would also take a lot longer to render the video.

My laptop has various peculiar issues which make video editing with it very awkward, but I might have to use that for a while.

Whatever I do though, video production will be slower.

I’ve been working on methods to create videos faster which still have decent production quality. I have a few ideas, hopefully I can get something out before or during the weekend.

I will replace the GPU pretty soon, I’m looking at the GTX 960 and 970. They are both very high price-performance, but the 970 is considerably more powerful while also being quite a bit more expensive. I have to consider which is a better investment. The broken GPU is the GTX 580.

Advice on any of this is welcome.

Edit: I bought the GTX 970 for £220. Should be here on Saturday.

Edit: The 970 arrived, it works, haven’t really tested its speed yet, but it seems to be performing as expected.
